Vladimir Zelensky, President of Ukraine, vetoed the adopted law on liability for rape and corruption of minors, providing for forced chemical castration, adopted by the parliament of the previous convocation.
On September 4, the law was returned with proposals from the president. This was reported on the page of the relevant law № 6449 «On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding Strengthening Responsibility for Crimes Committed against a Minor, a Minor, or a Person Under the Sexual Maturity».
«In such circumstances, the introduction of antiandrogenic drugs to all convicts who have committed the crime, regardless of whether a person has contraindications to the introduction of such drugs, can lead to a deterioration in his state of health or cause premature death. Therefore, there is a violation of the inalienable right to life enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine (part one of Article 27)», - the rights of the president say.
Also, the law, according to Zelensky, incorrectly spelled out items regarding the disclosure of personal data. The rules of the European Court indicate that this may adversely affect the life of the defendant and his relatives, as well as his further social adaptation.
This law can be viewed from different angles. On the one hand, the person who committed such a crime must be punished in the most severe way. But, in this case, the judicial system is threatened with accusations that some of the main laws of the Constitution are violated. The situation is very complicated. And it’s not clear, you need to judge the convicted according to the humane laws of Ukraine? What do you think?
