Vladimir Zelensky, President of Ukraine, approved Decree No. 584/2019 on the approval of the provisions on the Commission on Legal Reform and its staff.
This Commission will be an advisory body under the President of Ukraine. The functions of this body include: ensuring the development and introduction of agreed proposals on improving the legal system of Ukraine, taking into account the modern requirements of a democratic society; prepares and summarizes proposals for amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, legislation on the organization of the judiciary, justice and the status of judges, criminal liability legislation and criminal procedural legislation, as well as on the development of legal education and the reform of law enforcement bodies; develops the legal framework for creating conditions for the reintegration into the single constitutional space of Ukraine of the temporarily occupied territory and population, lives on them.
The composition of this commission includes two co-chairs and other specialists who create working groups. They will work on a voluntary basis free of charge. It was determined that the co-chairs are the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the co-chair of the Commission Ruslan Ryaboshapka and the professor of the international law department of the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Law Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor Mikhail Buromensky.
This commission can positively influence the legislative process. Even the professionalism of the members of this advisory body. Because it is necessary to carry out all these functions responsibly and efficiently so as not to create meaningless bills. What is your opinion?
