Members of the European Solidarity Party intend to vote against the possible dismissal of Vitali Klitschko from the post of mayor of Kiev. They stated this during a briefing.
«So far, a quorum is going on and it is still not known for sure whether there will be a Cabinet of Ministers tomorrow. If he does, and if this issue is on the agenda, then I’m sure that all representatives of the European Solidarity will vote against», - said Minister for Veteran Affairs Irina Frieze.
Irina Gerashchenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, noted that the party will continue to advocate for decentralization and the right of citizens to elect local and regional authorities.
«Local elections will be in a year - and the people of Kiev will completely choose their own power», - she said.
Ivanna Klimpush-Tsintsadze, Vice Prime Minister for European Integration, also supported the party’s position and stated:
«From my point of view, this initiative of the President of Ukraine Zelensky violates the Constitution of Ukraine, violates his own explanation and the decision of the Constitutional Court... I am not going to support a decision that will violate the decision of the Constitutional Court, so I will vote against».
The will of the people when choosing officials should be fully taken into account, but we must not forget that there are officials on the seats who are suspected of breaking the law. In this case, it will be correct if, after exposing the violation of a mayor, it is the representative of the highest authority who will be removed from office. But all this should happen only lawfully and without violations. Vitali Klitschko said that he intends to participate in local elections. And his supporters will have the opportunity, having voted for him, to leave him the mayor. Leave a comment.
