75% of young people want to start their own business, but will they be able to?

Ukrainian youth is very determined and the majority, and that 75% of young people want to start a business, and not to work for hire or in public service. This is what the research conducted by the sociological group “Rating”showed. And what awaits active and enterprising Ukrainians in reality? Will their passion and enthusiasm disappear?

Social.the survey was attended by about 2000 people. Age category from 18 years and older. The study was conducted in 2013 and 2018. Five years ago, 50% of the survey participants were in favor of the development of market relations. Today, this figure has increased to 58% of respondents.

The largest number of people willing to work for themselves turned out to be aged 18-35 years. 66% of respondents, and among 36-50-year-olds, want their business 63%. But among those who are 51 years old and older do not want to become entrepreneurs or do not know what is better – work for hire or still own business. It is understandable, age, desire for stability and old tempering do not allow this age category to get out of their comfort zone.

The most willing to become an entrepreneur is in the South and West of Ukraine, while in the center and East of the number of Ukrainians who want to start a business is reduced. However, among the wealthy people with higher education who want to work not for hire anymore, while the unemployed do not even see their economic freedom in the plans.

- Among those who would like to have their own business, increased assessment of the prospects for starting their own business in the near future. Today, 22% of those who would like to engage in business, said significant chances of starting a business in the near future (in previous surveys of such respondents was no more than 6%). About minor chances in this direction said 41%, their absence-31% – write sociologists “Rating”.

At the same time, as practice shows, Ukrainians mostly choose business in the field of trade and services (beauty salons, catering, transportation). However, how to prevent bankruptcy among newly-made businessmen? Of course, first of all, the future entrepreneur should have a clear business plan. After all, out of 10 new enterprises, 65-85% may be closed by the end of the year. In the future, such people again try themselves in their own business, but their number drops significantly.

And how to stimulate the opening of small businesses in the world? For example, Canada has a number of financial and tax advantages. To build a business here give loans, especially if it is a rare type of business that is needed by society. In all the provinces of the state there are consultations for future businessmen, where they are completely free to conduct lectures, trainings and seminars!

Ukrainian business faces a series of difficulties on its way. Officials take great care to harden the future of the middle class. Having opened his own business, the entrepreneur has to be alone with their problems. And, after all, in developed countries, small business provides more than 65% of jobs.

How to change the situation in Ukraine and stimulate the development of small business? First of all, through the development of special programs to support entrepreneurship. To do this, it is enough to use the successful models of this direction from international experience. And of course education is the cornerstone on which everything rests. Everyone is able to become financially competent, to develop and achieve results!
